Urge for justice for an abused cat by a groomer

  • by: Peta

When Igor Kisil went to pick up his Burmese cat, Nusha, from a grooming session at Furs, Fins, and Feathers on Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn, the groomer%u2014Bechir Bejaoui%u2014reportedly handed the horrified Kisil a plastic bag containing his beloved companion animal. According to reports, Nusha's face was drenched in blood and her eyes were discharging liquid. Apparently, the only explanation that Bejaoui offered Kisil for Nusha's battered condition was that she had been "bad." Click here for more information on this alarming case.

Local news sources state that Nusha suffered severe trauma, internal injuries, and hemorrhaging. She had to be hospitalized for two weeks. Her vet reportedly called the beating that the cat received the worst case of animal abuse he'd seen in 30 years. Unbelievably, Bejaoui%u2014who faces charges for this alleged heinous act of abuse%u2014is apparently still employed at Furs, Fins, and Feathers!

Please contact prosecutor Susan Scheurer and politely ask for a vigorous prosecution. Also urge her to ensure that, if convicted, Bejaoui faces%u2014in addition to jail time and stiff fines%u2014prohibitions against ever owning animals again (as is allowed in New York) and against working with animals for as long as possible.
