Adoption is the only Option!

Urge Obama to Adopt a shelter Pet, or NO Pet at all

Target:
avoid the drastic impact Obama's decision would incur on our shelter pets
Sponsored by:

PLEASE urge Barack Obama to adopt a pound dog-they are cute, innocent, and has lots of love to give ...

Petition to Urge the Obama Family to Adopt Their New Dog.

To: President elect Obama and family:
President elect Barack Obama instantly will be faced with decisions that will affect millions of Americans. Obama will also soon be making a decision that could affect millions of American dogs. We feel if Obama decides on a designer dog, it will have a fatal impact on shelter pets country-wide. Obama will be sending a message that a shelter dog is not good enough for the Whitehouse .

It has been reported that once the election is over, the Obamas will be looking for a new four-legged family member (much to his daughters%u2019 delight)

We, the undersigned, urge the Obama family to rescue a homeless dog. Whether they choose to adopt a purebred or a mutt, this action would undoubtedly cause a ripple effect to the benefit of all homeless animals. In a country where millions of dogs are killed each year in shelters, adopting a dog that would not otherwise have a future is a winning choice.

Taking a stand by choosing to save a life would set an example of the highest standard

I like the ultimate decision of the adopted dog. I was wondering if you might not consider further adopting more than one dog -- maybe three?

Dear President Obama, I am extremely disheartened to hear that you and your family have decided to get a pure-bred from a breeder. There are many good shelter dogs that could have made you and your family very happy. Not only did you lose an opportunity to save a dog's life but you have also sent the message to America as well as your own daughters that shelter dogs are inferior to those acquired from a breeder.

President Obama,by adopting a dog instead of buying one, you send an extremely important message not only to the American people, but to the entire world. Your popularity and influence is obviously very powerful and will be instrumental in helping to place thousands of dogs, cats, horses etc. into loving homes such as yours. Thank you and enjoy your new wonderful adoptee(s)...why not get a couple!

Breeders should be regulated and licensed. Personally, I can't stand them---they make me SICK. They help fill shelters. DON'T BREED OR BUY...WHILE 14,000 SHELTER ANIMALS will be MASS-KILLED in US shelters today!!! Please stop this nightmarish situation. Thank you.

If Obama was to adopt a shelter Dog, I think that it would have a massive impact on the public and who knows, it could potentially increase animal adoptions too. He would be doing both himself and animal shelters a favour.

So many homeless pets in need of adoption - it would be great if the first family would set an example that hopefully many more would follow.

Regarding dogs, there are specific breeds for people with allergies. My husband is allergic so we adopted a Terrier-Chihuahua from a rescue group. www.petfinder.org has every breed of dog. There is a tremendous over-population of homeless dogs! Please save a life!

Please Mr.President, do set an example and adopt a mixed breed from a killing shelter. Sure a lot of people will do the same and a lot of animals will be saved. Whatever dog you will choose, that breed will be fashion. So please donīt buy one from a breeder as this may cause more breeding and more killing.

every single hour in the u.s. 800 animals are put to sleep, simply because there are not enough home. buyers, breeders and pet stores only KILL the chances for shelter pets. As leader of the US please make the right choice.set the good example not only for your people but for the people of the world. Amongst all other decisions you need to make, this is the easiest one.. show compassion, ADOPT

I voted for you, and that meant a whole hearted vote for hope. I volunteer for a local Atlanta rescue. I work hard, like so many others, to save as many homeless pets as I can, even though I am painfully aware that right now the rescuers are severely outnumbered. With every bundle of love that I place in a good home, I know that there are countless more, innocently suffering, waiting for help that will never come. Please help less animals experience that lonely needless end by setting an example of adoption. You are my hero already, please be a hero to shelter animals.

Mr. President-elect, I'm sure you will make the right choice and adopt a shelter dog. It's an important decision that could potentially save the lives of thousands of pets in shelters! Please help them, and enrich your family with a wonderful shelter dog. I can tell you from personal experience that it will be one of the most personally enriching things you will ever do.

Mr. Obama, did you know that 7 million adoptable dogs & cats are killed each year due mainly to overpopulation? Did you know that 25-30% of dogs for adoption in animal shelters are purebred? The other 70-75%, of course, are lovable, wonderful mixed-breed pets, just waiting for a chance to be your perfect new friend. If you have your heart set on a specific breed, before you check out a dog breeder or pet store, why not adopt a pet from a breed rescue organization? Breed rescues are groups that specialize in a particular breed of dog or cat. Don't be fooled into thinking that animal shelters and pet rescues are filled with dog or cats that were discarded because they're "bad". Shelter pets for adoption are wonderful companions who became the victims of family tragedy, unlucky circumstances or irresponsible owners. Did you know that many backyard dog breeders and pet stores who supply the majority of purebreds simply are selling inbred pets without care for preventing genetic problems? Mixed breed pets have less inbreeding, generally less inherited genetic disease, and therefore overall lower vet bills and happier pets! And the best place to find a mixed breed dog or cat is at an SPCA, a humane society or an animal shelter. Save a life, and REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Thank you, Julie Cromer Sir Earl Ink & Co. A loving beautiful non allergenic short hair dog is waiting for you at the shelter. Please adopt a dog to join your family. As president it should be no problem for you to find the perfect friend. Please dont support breeders when so many unwanted animals are dying everyday. Keep being an example of a intelligent leader, choose compassion : adopt.
