I disagree with the use of violence in response to peaceful protests and I urge you to push for the immediate end to this tactic as well as the release of the citizens arrested following the events in Syria.

We, the undersigned, strongly urge immediate action to protect The Syrian peaceful protesters who went to the streets on March 15th 2011 asking for freedom of speech and the release of political prisoners. In so doing, the lives of innocent civilians will be preserved and the voices of those who are being kidnapped an tortured daily by the police will be heard. Importantly, such protection will help the Syrian people who are in the wake of political revolution and will spare blood shedding.

Whereas, many children and teenagers are being imprisoned without facing trials or even having a chance to communicate with their families,

Whereas, more than 10 peaceful protesters were shot dead and hundreds severely wounded by the police, and more than  300 were arrested,

Petition:

We call upon the UN to direct the following actions:

- The UN council on human rights to  condemn the use of excessive violence by Syrian regime against peaceful protesters in Daraa, which resulted in blood shedding and unlawful arresting of peaceful civilians.

It is the moral imperative of the international community to demand the immediate end of the brutality in Syria, and that the human rights of all citizens, particularly those involved in political activity, be respected without conditions.
