URGENT-The Betty Ann Ong Foundation Needs Your Signature!

September 11, 2001, While American Airlines Flight 11 was being hijacked by foreign terrorists to hit the World Trade Center; A courageous Flight Attendant-Purser-dared to alert her ground crew that her plane was being hijacked by foreign terrorists.

While any ordinary person would be paralyzed with fear, Betty Ann Ong heroically, hid and stayed on her phone relaying vital descriptions, names, and events going on in Flight 11 to shut down all air traffic for the first time in American air history.
 

We all know what happened afterwards but not all of us know of Betty's heroism, bravery, and the lives she saved.
 

Last Tuesday, April 26, 2011, Betty's Sister, Cathie Ong-Herrara-a resident of Bakersfield, CA. appeared before the Bakersfield School District Board of Trustees to propose the renaming of Downtown Elementary School to Betty Ann Ong Elementary School.

The significance is that Downtown Elementary School is situated in what was Bakersfield's Chinatown.

The Board members were so impressed with the tremendous number of signatures collected that the proposal was put on their next month, May 2011, Agenda.
