Vegetarian/Vegan School Lunch Options

Target:
Elk Grove Unified School District
Sponsored by:
I would love for you to sign this petition to help me get the Elk Grove Unified School District to offer our children an alternative to the meals they currently have. My children are vegetarian (converting to Vegan) and they have to eat less at lunch time because they have no alternative to the main course. Please help us to help the vegan/vegetarian children in Elk Grove, CA. I am not asking you or your family to become vegan/vegetarian just asking you to help the children the right to choose.

We, the undersigned, recognize that all students have a right to vegetarian and vegan food options.
In order to satisfy the nutritional, allergenic, and ethical concerns of all students, we insist that healthy
vegetarian and vegan menu items be made readily available to all students at all meal times.

I wish they had that when I was in high school. French fries and cheese sticks got old REALLY quick.

I am dealing with the same problem at my child's school.... it is absolutely unfair that a child has to go without or with less due to not choosing a meat and dairy product..... the vegetarian/vegan student should be served a variety of healthy alternatives.

If you expect students to take responsibility for themselves you must give them the opportunities to do so. Vegetarian and vegan children, like myself, have taken the time to research and make an informed decision, and that should be respected by offering a nutritional vegetarian alternative to the school meal. This is the norm in England- I am surprised its still an issue.

In order to stop Co2 pollution, it is essential to promote vegetarianism right now. The world population can no longer afford to eat all that meat

Our kids deserve the right to choose what they eat.If that means they do not want to eat rotting corpses and some other animals milk than by golly, provide them some variety and be nice about it! A little fruit perhaps, some vegetable, some nuts and a bit of soy product, water, all these goodies are VEGAN! And, ps-if you really want to be on the ball, go organic:)

I wish all schools had to give vegan options. It's frustrating for families with veg kids and especially the kids.

Vegetarianism is the healthiest way to eat. It also shows that some children have a conscience and a heart. This should be encouraged. How hard can it be to add a few extra healthy items to a school menu? Get with the times and offer alternatives.

You'd think that they would do it without needing a petition. Some people amaze me. Children should have the right to eat whatever food they want, not suffer because the school can't provide for them.

Every child has the right to a healthy meal that meets their families dietary restrictions. A vegan meal should be provided to vegan children.

We should be supporting and encouraging a healthier lifestyle for our children. Schools need to update their lunches to include choices for vegans and vegetarians. A lot of people our educating themselves to not only the health benefits but the humane issues. Schools...get with the program!
