Vote "YES" for the proposed on-leash recommendation in the Boise foothills!

Target:
Proposed on-leash recommendation
Sponsored by:
The Working Group of the Foothills Conservation Advisory Committee plans to propose to the entire Foothills Conservation Advisory Committee to make all lower and mid level trails in the Boise Foothills to be on-leash areas for dogs.  This would include all the trails in Hulls Gulch, Military Reserve, Bogus Basin, etc and leave on the upper level trails, or every trail accessible within 5 miles of downtown Boise, on-leash only.   The FCAC will meet on May 7, 2008 at 7:30am at the Foothills Learning Center to discuss this issue.

We feel that this is a reasonable recommendation, that is a safe and sane way to keep dogs, children, and other users, of the trail safe. Also, with on-leash laws, people will retain more control of their pets and their accompanying bad habits, EI: digging holes, killing local wildlife like song birds and chipmunks, and deficating where ever they please, without being cleaned up after.

We, the undersigned, believe that the Working Group's recommendation is just, sane, and warrented, and respectfully request that the Foothills Conservation Advisory Committee pushes ahead with this recommendation, and presents it to the Mayor and City Council of Boise, Idaho, in it full entirety.

Nice try--all 16 of you. If you want to see dogs on leashes, walk on the Greenbelt.

I think this is a great idea that is long overdue! Boise has lots of people now using the foothills area and dogs that are let off-leash are very destructive, no matter how much their owners protest otherwise. The people who want this off-leash law are probably the same ones who are wanting and allowing development up there and most probably live up there. Developers, 4-wheelers, motorcycles, hikers, and bicyclists all contribute to the significant damage that is going on up there. It is terribly sad that dog owners do not want to follow leash laws that are set in place for everyone's comfort and safety, and to preserve beautiful areas like the Boise Foothills.

I think this is a great idea to make pet owners responsible for cleaning up after thier dogs as well as keep everyone safe
