Voting Integrity for Tennessee
Electronic Voting Machines are the subject of much controversy. From our humble beginnings, paper ballots have served our nation and state well. As citizens of the state of Tennessee, we respectfully ask the Tennessee State Legislature and the State Election Commission to restore paper ballot voting and ensure voting integrity in all elections conducted in the state of Tennessee.

We the undersigned citizens are concerned about electronic voting machines, and we request that paper ballot voting be restored to all elections conducted in the state of Tennessee before the 2008 elections begin.
There are many reasons to be concerned about the accuracy and integrity of electronic voting machines. These machines and their memory cards frequently malfunction resulting in controversial voting results, where it is virtually impossible to determine the true winner. A paper trail receipt from an electronic machine gives a false sense of security as its voting integrity is still shrouded from public accountability. With the use of these machines we have surrendered our voting process to the private corporations that guard their technology with trade secrets. There is no simple way to determine whether a voter's choice is accurately recorded and reported by electronic voting machines.
There are several reports on electronic voting malfunctions and accountability that have previously been presented to the Tennessee Election Commission. Indecisiveness of the Commission by waiting for federal government legislation may leave all 2008 elections wide open to the vulnerability of electronic voting machines. Tennessee needs to act now to protect voting integrity so that all 2008 elections will have complete accuracy and accountability.
Paper Ballots have served this country and state well in the past. Let us return to the voting system that previously worked so well for our state by immediately restoring paper ballot voting to all Tennessee elections.

Paper ballots reduce the potential for error or manipulation.
With the development of technology such as the electronic voting system, there is never a guarantee that an individual cannot set the program up and have the system rigged to favor one person above another,truly making your vote obselete. Lets give the vote to the people, not the machines.
I would prefer for paper ballot voting to be used as I feel that the electronic voting machines can be manipulated and I prefer hard copy and truth in proof.
Paper ballot please, computer's are not as trustworthy as paper
Our voting system is a complete fraud. why pretent to have an election if the leader is already chosen. Bush controlled all computer elections for both "victorys". son of a bitch should be in prison.
Making sure there is a fair counting of votes is important to me. Each American who votes should not have to question whether it counted. There is too much controversy with electronic voting and too much evidence that proves tampering undetected can happen. Bring back the paper vote.
Without a paper ballot, there is no audit trail for the electronic machines. When the people lose trust in the election process, the legitimacy of the government itself is compromised.
Paper balloting ensures that voter fraud is minimized, which is a legitimate concern when voting for Ron Paul, given his controversial policies in regard to a large sector of people in power here in America.

Paper ballots allow more accountablity and oversight in the electoral process.

i am a resident of AZ, but i wholeheartedly agree. with the system set up as it is, they only pretend to let the people choose their president. in reality, it is the people in power who choose the figurehead we are ment to believe was elected by us. that does not discribe a democracy, so what does it discribe? Every vote needs to count! If the final count is inaccurate or scewed with the electronic vote, then how can anyone not see the necessity of maintaining the integrity of the paper ballot?
It is important in order to restore integrity and faith in the system and our government.

Computers counting votes? We all know that computers NEVER make mistakes. Don't we?
Electronic devices are too easily manipulated.
If it wasn't broken, why "fix it"? LOL, we know why.....
With electronix voting.. instead of requiring a groups of people in order to steal an election, it only requires one. There is a reason that noone like being called a "politician". Its because they are not to be trusted. And they are not to be trusted, not at all.
To ensure no fraud is commited and a verifiable reliable backup incase of failure.
the ability to vote is one of our cornerstone rights here in the US. electronic voting opens the door wide for abuse and cheating and leaves no room for accountability.
I work with computers everyday. They have "glitches" all the time. Paper works!

WIthout a paper trail, we'll never know the truth.
This issue is important to me because I care about a verifiable voting record which is not subject to electronic fraud.
Hackers could easily change votes! Makers of the machines testified to that fact!
To ensure the integrity and accuracy of all ballots, there should be a VERIFIABLE paper trail and only paper ballots will accomplish this.
Because it has been proven that electronic voting machines can be manipulated to provide a biased outcome.

Because we haven't had elections, we've had 'selections'. The electronic voting machines are used to manipulate the votes.
I do not trust the electronic voting, due to the fact that they can be manipulated.

As a software developement engineer I have a big problem with the lack of checks and balances within the electronic voting system. I know that any software can be "hacked" or simply designed to afford someone with the capability to affect the outcome. This is intolerable in our republic.
We need paper ballots so we can know the true winner.

Anyone who has ever had a checking account knows how important a paper trail can be and after the election of 2004 and the selection of 2000 I think it is more important than ever to be able to see how your vote was counted. |
This is a very important issue. If this is not approved then Ron Paul does not have a chance against the Diebold voting scam.
Need to have a paper record of every vote. You should get a receipt.
This is issue is of great importance as it has been proven that the electronic voting machines can be manipulated to 'swing' an election in a certain direction. If there is a paper ballot, there is much more accountability as the votes can easily be recounted if necessary.
