i was sexually abused as a child, i was able to put my stepfather in prison but it still doesn't change what was done to me.. he will be able to get out soon and it's not long enough for all the pain that was caused.

I was abused as a child! It lasted from the time I was 2yrs. old until I left home & got married. I swore my kids would never feel the hurt that I felt for all those yrs. I dispise my stepfather to this day. I am in my early thirties now but I still have nightmares, & live with the horrible memories of my childhood everyday. It never goes away. There's No excuse for child abuse. They should be put in a special prison for child abusers with no way out & no guards to protect them. Then let them be a victim. Let them know how it feels to be helpless. Let them get beat & raped on a daily basis.

A dear friend of mine's son was abused greatly by her boyfriend. Due to this abuse this child has suffered horrible emotional damage. Not only the child but the mother as well has suffered through this incident with guilt and depression. We as a nation have an obligation not only to protect but to stand up for these innocent children who cannot stand up for themselves.

I was abused for a lot of my childhood by my father. It did and still continues to affect me. However, I am now the mother of two sweet little boys, and I am determined to never lay a hand on them!! Supposedly my father's father abused him and so he just continued where he left off with his daughter (me). The cycle ends with me though!! My children will never know the horrible, lonely feelings of being abused by a parent that I had to!!

Why does a child rapist get 2 years jail time, or 9 months and then let out put on probation.......Drug adicts that suffer from a disease get more jail time then a sick child rapist. First time offenders of any nature toward a child need life in prison. I would rather then off the face of the earth because they never change. I'm a victim, abused by the biological man that made me, can't say the word father. If we do not change the laws, this will go on everyday. Children will die, they will suffer horrible abuse. Why would anybody turn their heads on what is going on. Do you see Nancy Grace... Everyday their is a child murdered, abducted, raped, beat, horrific abuse and we need to stop it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is what I have wanted to be in volved with for a very long time. We need more petitions, children tennagers and women are are targeted every day. I'm here to help stop the war on abuse of all!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree to this petition being put out there. I feel it should also be printed out and copies put into Child Day Care Centres, Hospitals, Doctors Surgeries, Shops, etc...to help spread the word of the Fight Against Child Abuse.

Thank you for doing this! My oldest daughter is a victim & bears the internal scars to this day. Her father used to slap her when she would talk back & tell it like it is. He never hurt my other two children because they didn't challenge him like she did. She is a Mom now of two precious little boys. She has vowed to not continue the cycle! Please let's stop and try to prevent child abuse. The punishment for abusing children is laughable. People get longer sentences for drug convictions. The punishment for abusing a child should be comparable to murder. Our children need more protection and abusers need to know that the punishment for their crime is life. Don't you think child abuse will decrease if the punishment fits the crime a little more? I do.

This petition is a wonderful way to get the word out that we as a nation need to change the law to protect our children better and to send the strong message that abuse of a child won't get you a few years and parole. The sentence should be LIFE with NO parole.

My beautiful 17 month old granddaughter, Brianna K Hester, was abused and murdered on May 1, 2009. I miss her terribly. Our family is devastated beyond belief. My greatest fear, now, is that her murderer's sentence will not be enough. I have seen and read too many horror stories of how these monsters get off with too little time. How will this EPIDEMIC of child abuse and murder ever end if these child abusers get light sentences??? Please, I beg you, change these laws so that our children will not continue to be hurt and die in vain. Something more must be done as the current laws are just not severe enough. I was a child who was physically, mentally and sexually abused for years, from age 3 to 10yrs old. The sexual abuse started at age 6. No child deserves abuse, REGARDLESS of what they do. They need the good kind of attention, for someone to acknowledge them, care for them, and nurture them.

I think this petition is a great idea. I also think that the people who kill children, they should be killed the SAME way as they have killed the child.

I was very glad to find this type of petition it is so widely needed. I'm very glad someone is putting this together and bringing awareness to this very important issue.

I think it is a great idea and very much needed to get the awareness out there and hopefully get more people aware and get them involved and preventing and reporting any abuse they know of.

I absolutely believe in capital punishment when a child is concerned. I do not think life in prison which in some states may only be 20 years. I think when they give life it should be there natural life. Fits the crime. We are to protect our kids instead the law allows them to go free and hurt another and we wonder why our kids are growing up mad ang angry at the world..

I think that the petition is a good idea. I would love to see the day that when a man or woman hurts a child that would be the day there world ended and through there natural light would never see the outside of a prison
