Wal-Mart: Stay Out of Politics!

Wal-Mart: Stay Out of Politics!

Target:
Wal-Mart President & CEO, Mr. Lee Scott
Sponsored by:
Wal-Mart is mobilizing store managers to lobby against Democrats in the upcoming 2008 presidential election, fearing the Democrats will make it easier for workers to unionize. Thousands of Wal-Mart managers and department heads have been obligated to attend meetings to learn about the negative aspects for workers if they unionize!

Wal-Mart is scared of a Democratic administration because of the proposed Employee Free Choice Act, which would make it easier for workers to organize. Wal-Mart employees should not be subjected to this political propaganda.

Wal-Mart has not explicitly told managers how to vote, but it has made an effort to dissuade them for voting Democrat.

This is not the first time Wal-Mart has gotten involved in politics. Up until the Democrats gained control of Congress in 2006, Wal-Mart donated 98 percent of its political donations to the Republican Party.

It's time to take a stand. Tell Wal-Mart to stop buying Congress and to stop pushing its political agenda onto employees!

Dear Mr. Lee Scott,

We the undersigned are concerned about recent efforts to push a specific political agenda onto Wal-Mart managers and department heads. Political propaganda has no place in this corporation.

Although we recognize that there has been no explicit mandate to vote Republican in the upcoming 2008 election, there is significant evidence that demonstrates that Wal-Mart is trying to dissuade its employees from voting Democrat because of the party's proposed legislation that would support labor unions. Although you may not welcome labor unions, you have no right to subject employees to this manipulation.

We ask that you stop this propaganda immediately. As the upcoming November election draws near, demonstrate your respect for your employees to vote as United States citizens, not as Wal-Mart employees.

Wal-Mart needs to keep its mouth shut. They have no right to even encourage their employees to vote a certain way. This is overstepping their boundaries as an employer. We need to make an example of them. A political agenda has no place in the employer-employee relationship.
