We Count! Save Crystal River Manatees

Please sign if you are concerned about protecting and endangered species, the Florida manatee from exploitation and death!

Some members of the manatee tour industry don't want to be regulated, nor to take the responsibility for having tamed manatees to the point they are further endangered from high speed watercraft.  Local waterfront homeowners living in million dollar mansions refuse to slow their water toys to protect the manatees, threatening to sue the USFWS if it tries to protect manatees in their back yard.

The USFWS has delayed their rule to try to appease the radical element. Meanwhile manatees will suffer and die. Our voices are not being heard.  The 25,000 of us who signed a previous petition on this site are being told that your votes don't count.

Lets tell them again in no uncertain terms, WE CARE!  WE COUNT!
We the undersigned ask that our votes be counted and our concerns recognized as legitimate in regards to comments provided re: (FWS-R4-ES-2010-0079),.

The city of Crystal River, driven by a radical right wing element who contend the Federal Government has no jurisdiction in the matter, seeks to kill or delay a rule making Kings Bay in Crystal River, FL, a manatee refuge under the ESA/MMPA.  The service has to this date delayed the rule at the expense of an endangered species

Over 100,000 individuals provided comments, through various methods of communication.  The City has discounted most of those comments as "robo"  comments generated from outside the community by persons who have no understanding of the issue.  We ask that you acknowledge these comments as valid and push through the Kings Bay Manatee Refuge with its original protective measures.  Only a well regulated manatee viewing industry can survive in harmony with this endangered species.

Thank you for taking the time to consider our request.
