Bumper-to-bumper traffic is, sadly, a familiar image in the western half of the DFW Metroplex. By signing TRTC's petition and calling for increased investment in mobility solutions, you can help keep people and goods moving freely across our region.

We're Tired of Traffic Jams and We Want Solutions!

Target:
State elected officials representing the western half of the DFW Metroplex

North Texas is the highest-growth region in the United States.  That means more traffic, more roadway congestion, more delays and more air pollution.

To keep our region moving, we need more revenue to fund greater investment in transportation and infrastructure projects.  We must invest more in rail transit, roadway rehabilitation and roadway expansion.

Our current metropolitan transportation plan tells us we need to invest $130 billion in transportation projects, operations and maintenance over the next 20 years.  Revenue projections indicate we will have $71 billion, leaving us $59 billion short!

Unless we increase our investment in transportation, we'll spend more and more time sitting in traffic, going nowhere, and losing precious time with our loved ones.  We'll waste increasingly costly motor fuel and force more emissions into our already polluted air.  We will also jeopardize our economy because businesses will choose to expand in or relocate to regions that aren't plagued with traffic gridlock.

The cost of fixing the problem is far less than the economic losses we will suffer if we don't take action NOW.

Our state legislators have authority over most transportation revenues, and they listen to their constituents when making revenue and funding decisions.  Join us in telling them that transportation is vital to our quality of life and economy.

The time to act is now!  Let's tell our legislators that transportation is a priority, that we must invest more in transportation, and that we are willing to pay a little more for greater mobility in our region!

Traffic is impossible in the metroplex. Travel to and fro either Houston or Austin is also hellish! where is light rail? We NEED it!

My husband already rides the TRE to Dallas from Ft. Worth. It would be nice for the train to run through Burleson as well.

We live in an area of the U.S. that it is basically impossible for one to work and not own a vehicle because we are behind everyone else in the nation as far as any kind of transportation system. Its hard enough being able to afford all bills with the economy but having the pressure of not being able to get to work without having a car at all times is exhausting. Please do something to where people will not always face such devastation when a car breaks down or can no longer afford monthly car payments

Commute times are terrible during peak times. I've driven more miles to get to and from work in a timely manner, because the shortest drive in mileage was the longest time wise. Also it would be great to have a good bus system where the coverage is large and frequent. I'd love to be able to take the bus. We could go down to just one car in our family. That would save us a lot of money.

We need to add mass transit options to Arlington, linking the DFW region.

Overall, I realizes that I have a relatively easy commute from Arlington to Fort Worth and back, when compared to those that must commute to Dallas. Still, having lived in Texas now for 10 years, the areas where highways merge are getting worse due to traffic volume. It is not uncommon to sit in bumper-to-bumper traffic, traveling a short distance in a long period of time. The weekend traffic on Matlock seems to be headed toward making it more and more like Cooper. I am happy that the area is expanding, and I appreciate that some work is already being done, but I am eager to see more mass transit within Arlington and between Arlington and Fort Worth. I am not thrilled about the idea of huge highways, but if more lanes need to be added to decrease volume, I'd prefer that to sitting still in fewer lanes. Thank you for paying attention to this petition. I hope it gets the necessary signatures to make a difference.

hey hey sick of traffic jam ? So am I ! And so are we all I guess. How can we make a difference ? If you think it's bad in texas, check out in other cities, especially in Asia. It's 10 times worse. Check out my blog if you have time, it speaks only about that, in Indonesia and elsewhere. Looking forward to your feedback http://kemacetan.blogspot.com

My interest is in North Texas maximizing the unique opportunity offered by the explosive population growth to build a state of the art public transportation system that will address environmental and economic concerns and out-of-control traffic problems that affect the quality of life in the DFW region.

We DO NOT WANT TOLL ROAD's, we the triple taxed drivers want real roads and expanded lane roads to drive on. We the tax payer are tired of seeing our dollars pay for roads only to be proposed to be sold to out of country companies buyers. If it takes new faces at the top levels in Austin, from the Governor down, them so be it. Lining their pockets in the futue must stop!!! Even when it becomes a toll road, it's jammed up when one needs it the most, morning and evening.

Due to increasing fuel costs and increasing value of personal time, traffice relief must happen, especially for 121/183 in the mid-cities area. The congestion has gotten increasingly worse in the past 6 years I have lived in the area.

When I moved here 26 years ago there were plans for widening north loop 820. After fighting this traffic all these years zero has been accompolished. Our elected officials have failed us in every possible way.

The lack of improvements to our highway infrastructure relative to the ongoing commercial and residential developments is unconscionable and unacceptable on the part of our elected officials. My disgust at the lack of action will be applied during the upcoming elections.

Mass transit in NE Tarrant County is worse then a joke! It does not exist! Most workers at DFW Airport live here and are forced to drive to work. We have the third busiest aiirport in the country and yet there is no public transportation from it to the downtown areas. The bus connection to the Trinity Rail Express is pitifully slow and requires patrons to change buses between at the South Parking Lot. Do you want to have a 21st century modern metropolitan area or an 18th century backwaters economic loser?

While my commute isn't horrible at this point, I foresee it getting worse. It would be drastically preferable to have a light rail option or similar. Currently the only nearby one only runs to downtown, and not to outlying areas of Fort Worth, where my work is located (Hulen area).

North Loop 820 between 35W and 183 needs more lanes. No matter what time of day it is, there is always triffic in this location. Stop the delays, stop the traffic, and SAVE ON GAS MONEY!

There is no public transportation available to travel from point A to point B. What is available requires first using personal vehicle then public transportation. Nothing is gained from such a system. Public transportation must be a priority.
