This is a petition to YouTube to reinstate my account, which was terminated on Wednesday, May 25th, 2011, less than 24 hours after I received a first warning!
Here's the background:
I had my YouTube account for four years and over that time had uploaded 282 videos. In all that time, not once had I ever received any warning about the content of my videos. On Tuesday, May 24th, I received two warnings in rapid succession concerning four videos that had been on my account for months.
Realizing that these "two strikes" meant that I was on the verge of account termination,
I promptly submitted an appeal requesting time to ascertain which of my other videos would be deemed in violation. I thought it was reasonable to request that I not be further penalized before I even had the chance to bring my account into compliance with YouTube's community guidelines. After all, what good is a "warning" if you're not given time or information needed to respond accordingly?
While I was waiting for a response to my appeal, I received a termination notice. How is that fair?
The termination notice, and the subsequent reply to my appeal, appeared to be nothing more than form letters. There was no indication that a human being had read my messages, which I thought were reasonable requests for time and additional information.
I am requesting support for this petition, in hopes that I can get a human being from YouTube to review the facts of the matter, do the right thing, and reinstate my account. This is only fair.
