Over the years many a gamer has been changed by the sights seen upon G4's X-Play. Yet six months ago a bunch of men in suits decided to change the format from the funny enjoyable show that united fans all over the world to a bland clone of many of the gaming mediums we've seen before.
What have we gained by this change? Well, it would seem that game developers are more likely to stop in studio. They'll show their games a little more willingly, because it appears to be a professional program.
What have we lost? X-Play's credability. In order to keep developers coming on, they can't risk upsetting the big giants with unfavorable reviews. We can no longer sit through an episode and recieve knowledge AND enjoyment. We are left with a few unsatisfying replacement such as Gamertag to fill the void, and all it does is remind us of how far they've fallen.
This represents a dangerous time in the gaming community. A time when we will be forced to choose to become a mindless drone of a witless overseer, or stand up with a single voice a problaim that we want programming that entertains as it teaches. A program that can unite the world against really really awful games that are ported from a movie screen!
But most importantly, we can send a message to Adam and Morgan that we care for their future. As fans we can help propel them to stardome, or watch them wither in the cages, confined to the torment of boring television.
