Yes to Roquefort, No to Hormone-Laden Beef

I and others in the United States do not want to eat US beef containing hormones. Why should we force other countries to? The Washington Post reported yesterday that the U.S. has retaliated against the French government for an EU ban on imports of US beef containing hormones, putting a 300% tariff on roquefort cheese, as well as high tariffs on French truffles, Irish oatmeal, Italian sparkling water, etc. How about banning US hormone-laden beef in the US too? Stop punishing democracies for their smart food choices, end these retaliatory tariffs!
Dear Ambassador Allgeier:

I and others in the United States choose not to eat US beef containing hormones. Such hormones have negative consequences both for human health and for the environment.  Why should we force other countries to import this beef? The Washington Post reported yesterday that the U.S. has retaliated against the French government for an EU ban on imports of US beef containing hormones, putting a 300% tariff on roquefort cheese, as well as high tariffs on French truffles, Irish oatmeal, Italian sparkling water, etc. Please stop punishing democracies for their smart food choices and end these retaliatory tariffs. Thank you very much.
