Zero emission vehicle (ZEV) technology has been available and successfully working for many years. The only thing lacking to create a zero emission marketplace is our collective will to dump oil-based energy. The Zero Emission Pledge sends a powerful message - you, as a consumer, will not support an industry that continues to ignore the needs of the planet, public health, and all living beings threatened by climate change.
Facing down one of the most powerful industries on the planet is a daunting task. But remember this important fact - you as a consumer wield more power with your purchases than any force on the planet! With high overhead, even a slight decline in sales will have an amplified impact on the corporate bottom line. If you speak with your dollar, the corporations will hear. Don't let them continue to drag their feet while the planet burns! We need radical change now - not five, ten, or twenty years from now.
One of the most important things you can do to help reduce the impact of global warming may be the easiest - stop buying cars that use gas. Spend one moment to take the Zero Emission Pledge, and send a message that will have a real impact!

I think it is a disgrace to ban the electric car, global warming is a fact we have to deal with and if we choose to own an electric car, it should be our choice. it would be perfect for someone like me that does short commuting, likes fast, fun cars, and is on a tight budget. not to mention the environmental bonuses.

I'd love to see a feasible electric car for everyday use. I drive to college daily, and I have to pay $35-$40 a week in gasoline. It would be great not to be so dependent on gasoline!

Getting ZEV right now is a very hard thing.. Vehicles that depend on oil... Using them only brings harm to everything we love. That is why I say we must improve our technologies quickly... Before it becomes too late.

With electric cars we have less pollution, oil company dependence, engine problems, carbons, energy usage, tank stations and povetry because of the need for oil in poor countries, i.e. Iraq and Burma. We can ourselves produce the energy needed to fuel the cars, using different solutions. |
