Let Government know that Animal Abuse, is as unacceptable as Child Abuse.
3,000,000 Animals a year suffer from Animal Abuse - over 300,000 are euthanized due to the severity of their injuries.
Statistics have proven that most serial killers began their torment on Animals.
It has also been proven that in a home where there are children and pets, if a pet is being abused, so are the children!
By bringing awareness to Animal Abuse, seeking much stiffer penalties, we may not completely hinder the damage, but we can set examples and place fear into Offenders. We can bring a renewed awareness based on facts, education, evidence and statistics. (F.E.E.S.)
Animal Rights were put on a back burner when Paul Martin became Prime Minister, summed up as irrelevant - however, this is solely a "people" problem and requires being dealt with accordingly - in a court of law.
We believe that organizations such as the SPCA and the Humane Society are essential tools in proof of abuse, however, we ask that the law not be placed in their hands, but directly in the hands of Courts.
We want Prime Minister, Steven Harper, to know the seriousness of Animal Abuse and that it is directly a people problem.

We the undersigned, are writing you today, to endorse the importance of higher legal penalties for Offenders of Animal Abuse.
We ask that Animal Abuse be recognized as a Felony and be governed by penalties of up to 10 years in prison or $50,000 in fines.
Statistics have proven that most serial killers began their torment on Animals. In most of these cases, the torment evolved to children, then women.
It has also been proven that in a home where there are children and pets, if a pet is being abused, so are the children!

Animal Abuse, is a people problem, enacted by people who need to be held responsible to their actions. By doing so, we protect the innocent.
Please redefine the laws concerning Animal Rights by stipulating what exactly is considered animal abuse.

- Any type of bodily harm that requires medical attention
- Bodily harm that requires euthanization
- Bodily harm that leads to death
- Signs of Starvation, dehydration and/or lack of proper shelter
- Abandonment - moving and leaving animals behind (longer than 12 hours)
- Abandonment - physically placing an animal in a remote or unknown area and departing
- Over-breeding: whereupon the animal shows signs of weakness or stress or internal/external physical damages
- Entrapment with intention to dispose of by abandonment or to kill
- Lack of medical attention due to a serious injury or life threatening illness causing undue suffering
