STOP THE LOOTING OF MYANMAR'S NATURAL RESOURCES.

During the last 20 years the nations of China, Thailand, India and other nations/corporations have been using the military dictatorship government of Myanmar to strip the country of minerals, timber, natural gas, oil, hydro-electricity, land, labor etc. without compensating the people of Myanmar.

Myanmar has not existed as a country over the last 20 years, but an ENORMOUS RESOURCE STEALING CORPORATION with Than Shwe as the CEO and China, India, Thailand and other countries/corporations as loyal customers.

The citizens of Myanmar are nothing more than voteless/powerless employees with few civil/human rights.

Myanmar is now expriencing one of the highest deforestation rates on earth.

Nearly every river in Myanmar is now dammed, many of these rivers are dammed repeatedly. There are now an estimated 150 large dams in Myanmar and many more are planned by China and other nations which ship the electricity back to their countries via electrical transmission lines, built by China.

Each large dam built in Myanmar forcibly displaces an estimated 1000-20,000 people and drowns ancient villages, farms, forests and destroys river fisheries. Some of these dams are the largest ever built in southeast Asia. Southeast Asian forest dwelling tribal people are heavily dependent on river fish as a source of protein in their diet. River fishing has been the center of tribal life and culture for tens of thousands of years in Southeast Asia's tropical forests. This lifestyle is now threatened by the building of numerous mega-dams by China and others..

There are now an estimated 1 MILLION homeless refugees within Myanmar, and in the nations which surround Myanmar. They've been driven out by these reckless resource extraction operations and the government, police, military oppression which comes with resource looting/theft.

Many of the tribal people in Myanmar are forced into slave labor on these resource extraction operations, they're also forced into slave labor on road building operations. These people are often poorly educated tribal people and have little money or access to courts/justice.

Many of the young tribal women who have been adversely affected/driven out by this natural resource looting in Myanmar, have become refugees, and many have been forced into the sex trade in Southeast Asia, later to die of HIV/AIDS. Many are preyed upon by the corrupt military and police in Myanmar.

After doing some of your own research on this subject send a short note of explanation....and concern, about this situation to your U.S. senators and/or representatives below.
