Abandoned, left to die alone, scared and starving in the streets of Portugal!!

     

This is a petition to get some much needed help for abandoned animals in the streets of Portugal! there is a great need for awareness and education about spaying and neutering and just plain compassion about these suffering animals! way too many times people will just leave them tied to a roadside fence so that they won't follow them home, and then these poor animals are unable to get to any kind of food or water and they wait endlessly for their "owners" to come back which of course they never do! It's very sad to see these poor animals rome aimlessly, dazed, scared and starving, many times they get hit by cars and no one bothers to stop or hlep them and there are no shelters at all, or any kind of animal welfare laws!....NOTHING to protect them at all!
this petition is an effort to put an end to so much suffering and try to get a shelter built! PLEASE SIGN AND SHARE!!

Portugal is a BEAUTIFUL country with great people but when it comes to animals it's SHAMEFUL SHAMEFUL SHAMEFUL! First off, the laws don't offer any kind of protection to animals. It's not just about abandoned animals. There are many animals being beaten up and neglected by their owners and NO ONE CAN DO ANYTHING. Animals are seen as private property so as long and they're your property you can do anything you want with them. I CAN KILL ALL MY DOGS AND CATS and get away with it even if everyone sees it, and they can't do anything either because it's my property and I do whatever I want with my property. The other problem is people education. I remember in school being taught about respecting other people, other races, disabled people, poor people, the environment, not dumping trash on the ground, a lot of stuff but about ANIMALS? Nothing. They don't make it clear that animals deserve respect. People don't believe that in here. They see animals as toys, conveniences, companions, fun not LIVING BEINGS who deserve the same respect as humans. #529

Ja tudo foi dito a cerca destes pobres animais, ja muito foi discutido, muito foi falado, mas no entanto eles continuam esquecidos, esquecidos do povo, dos politicos, da comunicacao social... tantos temas que sao capa de jornal e abertura de telejornais que nao teem metade da urgencia deste e no entanto cativam a opiniao publica... que mais sera necessario fazer para sensibilizar este pais de parcos costumes... refugiam-se em mentalidades terceiro mundistas e escondem-se atras de um suposto desenvolvimento mascarado de crueldade... enquanto se discute, se esquece ou se tenta esquecer para nao incomodar, centenas de vidas sofrem nas ruas por tras de um olhar de suplica e tristeza... que mais sera necessario fazer?... tudo!!! #519

Abandoned, left to die alone, scared and starving

We the undersigned, respectfully ask you, Senhor Presidente  Jose Agostinho Ribau Esteves to please help the many cats and dogs that are abandoned, suffering and living on the streets of your Municipality and country. You have done such great work to beautify the roads and neighborhoods but close to nothing about this very important and sad issue!  It is very important to educate your constituents to spay and neuter their cats and dogs in an effort to stop creating so many unwanted lives! this is such a sad part of this country and it has to end! we know that you are a much loved and good President of this community and would be a good leader in educating the residents in how to be compassionate and be good pet owners, this is very important!!! You have the power, you can build a good safe and humane shelter for these poor unfortunate animals and make sure they are cared for and treated with compassion and with the basic needs we all have, shelter food and love! get pet food companies to donate food, get  people to donate money by  fundraising and residents to donate unwanted items such as un-needed blankets, towels or anything they can afford! is it possible, it can be done, it just as to start somewhere with someone like you!!
And PLEASE an incinerator is NOT the answer!!!
