Australian BSL Protesters united for End to Breed Specific Laws in our land !

In light of the recent case of two family pets, Bear and Kooda that were put down because of their apparent pit bull breeding we are asking for signatures to repeal breed specific legislation (BSL) within Victoria and Australia wide. These dogs were not adequately identified and DNA testing was not permissible. They paid with their lives whilst they had not displayed aggressive behaviour nor did they attack anyone.

Family pets are being put down because of draconian, unworkable legislation that has been poorly researched. There has been a total lack of community consultation on the Government's behalf in drafting these laws which have been implemented as a result of inadequate council and government animal regulations. Pit Bull type dogs have been targetted as they are a popular and have been negatively portrayed via the media.

Many people in the community fear that their dog will be next on the list due to the Council's identification criteria of a Pit Bull type and the absence of DNA testing which leaves dogs misidentified. A dog merely has to look like a Pit Bull to be confiscated and then killed if they haven't complied with Council regulations. It is morally wrong to discriminate against any dog based on how it looks and dogs need to be assessed on an individual basis rather than by what breed it is.

If you have had an issue with your local government or council then please leave your comments and join www.facebook.com/AustralianBslprotesters for more up to date information. Your BSL issues are ours.
