Facebook Must Be Accountable For Crimes Committed On Their Pages

Despite numerous complaints, Facebook hasn't applied it's own Community Standards, specifically Standards 1 and 5, or it's Rights and Responsibilities Policies, specifically 3.7, 3.10, 3.12, and 5.1. Several Facebook websites contain graphic pictures and videos and general gore depicting boiled, roasted, or hanged pets, dogs being drug behind cars and gruesome dog fights all of which have no educational value and based on the accompanying remarks have been posted simply for the enjoyment of its users. Another class of pictures, usually drawings, advocates harm to animals (usually dogs) in ways that would necessarily result in criminal charges (e.g., leaving a dog in a hot car). The page owners' postings on the sites themselves advocate harm and death to animals (usually dogs). Lastly, events scheduled by these owners have included killing en masse a particular breed or adopting dogs en masse just to have them euthanized. All of these have been complained about to Facebook, who has responded poorly by prohibiting our ability to report the content and events. Although Facebook claims not to be responsible for the actions of any user, because of the lack of enforcement of its own policies and standards, Facebook is making itself accountable for threats to animals and animal abuse. We expect Facebook as one of the largest social media in the world to take an active part in cleaning up the internet. Facebook should have a zero tolerance policy, which they enforce, regarding animal abuse, threats to harm animals and those who actively advocate these activities. Indeed if these things involved humans, they would not be tolerated.
