Ask New Mexico - Kill the Proposed Anti-Cougar Bill

Please sign and share this petition in an effort to encourage New Mexico not to pass the anti-courage bill that would not protect the cougars in the area. The current anti-cougar bill would overturn the law that requires a license to hunt cougars, allowing for these big cats to be shot or trapped at any time in any number.

The current news is that New Mexico committees are considering an anti-cougar bill that would allow anyone to hunt and kill these big cats at any time. This new bill would eliminate the protection of these animals as a means of controlling the cougar populations using the cruelest method possible.

Opponents of the anti-cougar bill far outweigh those in favor. In fact, a spokesman for the New Mexico Wildlife Federation has concerns that a bill not protecting the cougar will put cubs and their mothers in harm's way.

Conservative estimates put cougar numbers between 3,000 and 4,500 – not nearly enough to merit encouraging the slaughter of these majestic animals.

Please help protect cougars in New Mexico by signing and sharing this petition.

New Mexico Government & House of Agriculture, Water and Wildlife Committee - We are asking you to reconsider the anti-cougar bill that would make it an open season for hunting and killing the cougars. This is an unethical and inhumane way of controlling the cougar population. Do not pass a bill that will only cause further problems by allowing people to hunt and kill these beautiful animals.
