This young kid, a teen, killed four people in a driving accident and the judge wants to dismiss the case because he feels the teen is unable to handle the consequences of his action.  What kind of justice is this and what are we teaching children or anyone for that matter?? The sixteen-year-old’s defense is that his is a victim of affluenza since his parents taught him that wealth is a privilege that shields consequences.  He was to face twenty years in prison but his wealth resulted in a pardon.

The sixteen-year-old Ethan Couch admitted to four counts of manslaughter after he and a group of friends stole some liquor from Wal-Mart. They then piled into his car, struck and killed four pedestrians while going at a speed of 70 miles an hour in a 40 mph zone. He has injured one of his passengers severely and nine other bystanders were hurt as well.

The teen was not only highly-intoxicated; he also had Valium in his system.  At the scene he was very belligerent, saying “I’m outta here!” He felt he was the victim in this case because of his parent’s wealth; that he never had to face consequences, which an expert summarized prior to sentencing. Of course his parents agree.

Four people lost their lives and several others were hurt; however, his only punishment is to a $500,000 a year counseling center, and 10 years probation. Five wrongful death suits are pending against this kid who does not have to be accountable for the lives he took! State of Texas Judicial System – There is something wrong with the judicial system when someone gets off with murder because they have money; too wealthy to face the consequences!  What message is this sending to others like this teen?  No wonder there is so much crime! People know they can get away with it by a slap on the wrist and a “don’t do it again” speech.  This boy took four lives and injured several others.  Please reconsider the punishment for this boy and give him a prison sentence. He needs to be accountable for his actions and also repent for the lives he stole.  He did murder four individuals! Make him pay (not with money but restitution) for his crime!!
