hello.. its crazy to see how our soceity has become a plastic society. Plastic is unsafe for our society and as well for our health, and we still dont see change. We need to preserve whats left of mother nature!
The SAQ (Quebec's liquor stores) have already stopped distributing not just plastic bags but all single use bags. Retailers are showing us it is doable, we need to make it happen.
Why wouldn't we want to ban plastic bags? It is easy to get used to taking a few cloth bags to the store with you, and the impact on the environment is huge.

PLEASE STOP THIS. I am 17 years old and would like my future children to someday have the chance to see Earth's creatures who are becoming extinct due to plastic bag use. Ban plastic bags. Let's set an example for other countries.

We have so much plastic going to landfill each year eliminating bags are such a easy first step.
Warmest congratulations to Giant Tiger Canada for already implementing a 3 cent rebate per bag of our own we use instead of theirs. It is the first step. Their next logical step will surely be a 3 cent, or better 50 cent! charge per bag of theirs we use! Should help them recover some of the 2 million a year they spend on free bags for us and get them having to spend less than 2 million a year in future as we are weaned off of them. It would be just great if the Loblaws store chains (Valu-Mart and others) would follow suit soon.
We can survive without plastic bags, but the environment may not.

Plastic bags are a scourge we do not need anymore!
It is time to make change on many different levels in society. Banning plastic bags is a visable and notable event that gets the general public's attention. Once they know they can survive without plastic bags they will be more receptive to other change.
In the town that I live in there are at least hundreds of plastic bags in the street and I want to stop this stupidnes!!!!!

Plastic bags are indeed a scourge of the planet. If "developing" countries like Rwanda and Uganda can ban them, there is no excuse for a wealthy country like Canada not to take a leading role.
We need to stop using so many plastic bags! I know I try not to use them anymore and if I do, I re-use them over and over again.
