Please sign this position if you oppose using public school funds to start the Discovery Charter School.

Dear Supporters,
The establishment of a Discovery Charter School in Chesterton, IN is proposed. We have three weeks to show that the community does not support this move. Please sign this petition to indicate your opposition to this school.
The charter school will be funded by dollars that would typically go to Duneland Schools. For illustrative purposes let's say that the state funds $10,000 per student. If 300 students enroll in Discovery School, that is a loss of $3 Million to Duneland School Corporation's budget. The logical way to deal with that is to cut programs--programs that our children would otherwise benefit from. Another possible way to replace that money is to allow transfers from other school corporations.
Do we want either result for our children?
