Children are born learning, and the greatest brain development happens well before kindergarten. Shouldn't quality early childcare opportunities be available to every child in the Delaware Valley? We think so, and we hope you do, too. Join the Promising Kids Campaign, a new initiative to educate and mobilize parents and others to take on the critical role that quality early learning experiences play in a young child's life.

About Promising Kids

Quality early education is critical to getting a child on the right path to the brightest future possible. The Promising Kids Campaign was created to empower Delaware Valley parents with the information and tools to help them make the best decisions for their children and also learn how they can be advocates for the young children in the area to have universally high quality education opportunities. Geared for parents, PromisingKids.org provides links to key news and resources to better inform early learning decisions, a One Smart Mom blog to learn from what other parents have to say, and ideas on how to get involved with a community of parents to voice support of the resources needed to provide the best in early education for the children of our region.

Dear Governor Corbett and Members of the Pennsylvania State Legislature:

I'm a concerned citizen and feel strongly that all of Pennsylvania's children deserve a bright future.

I know that children who attend high-quality early learning programs enter
kindergarten with better language, reading, math, and social skills and need less
remediation, saving schools and taxpayers money.

I join a community of other concerned citizens by signing this petition to support adequate funding for quality early childhood education.

We are pleased that Governor Corbett's proposed budget preserves state resources for Pre-K Counts, Head Start and child care, and we commend him for keeping this campaign promise.

Now, we need the Pennsylvania State House and Senate to support the Governor's leadership and do their part to preserve this funding for early child care and education programs.

Additionally, we all recognize that kids have to continue their learning after they get out of pre-kindergarten. Therefore, we also encourage the Governor and members of the legislature to ensure that the final budget includes adequate funding for quality kindergarten through twelfth grade education. Unfortunately, Governor Corbett's proposed budget for this part of the education spectrum was not adequate as proposed.

I hope this petition serves as a motivator for Pennsylvania's House and Senate members and Governor Corbett to preserve funding for all of the programs that support children's early education and adequate K-12 education. An adequate investment in education is the best way to ensure a bright future for all Pennsylvania children.
