STOP THE SEAL HUNT

We all remember the scenes of carnage, suffering and death from last year and all the years before, and even though the Canadian Government is attempting to play down the cruelty involved, video footage and pictures show the harsh reality of this commercial seal hunt. The facts remain the same: these are babies, all under 3 months old, that are being mercilessly slaughtered in the very nursery where their mothers gave birth to them.

In Canada, the season for the commercial hunt of Harp Seal is from November 15 to May 15, although most of the majority of the seal hunting process occurs in March. Most sealing occurs in late March in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, and during the first or second week of April off Newfoundland, in an area known as "The Front". This peak spring period is generally what is referred to as the "Canadian Seal Hunt".

The famous white babies are being born now on the thin, sparse ice in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and off the coast of Newfoundland, while the Canadian Government is playing their hand of political cards just perfectly. Not surprisingly, the good folk at the Dept. of Fisheries & Oceans have not yet given any indication or public discussion regarding the new kill quota for the harp seals yet. At this point, it's expected the game will play out with the release of the official kill numbers just days before the hunt begins, or, better yet, (for them), under the cloak of some unrelated political distraction...

We the undersigned can make this happen, we can make the change, we have to be the change, we can stop this horrible act of commercial hunting of seals. Clubbing Seals is despicable, it shouldn't be happening, I know that none of us would appreciate being clubbed especially while only THREE MONTHS old.

For me this is my life goal. To stop commercial seal hunting. I believe together we can be the change. If we believe we can, then we will!
Thank you for reading this letter. :)

Cheers!
