Running of the bulls is a common event that occurs in Pamplona, Spain at the San Fermin festival, and with the activities comes numerous allegations of sexual assault and rape against women and children.  In addition to the abuse against humans, there has been reports of torture and death of 54 bulls.  You can read more on this event and the resulting violence; http://www.peta.org/action/action-alerts/pamplona-ban-violent-san-fermin-festival/?utm_campaign=081216%20PETA%20E-News&utm_source=PETA%20E-Mail&utm_medium=E-News

As stated in the above article, “the recklessness and cruelty inherent in bullfighting and bull runs can encourage a dangerous and lawless atmosphere in which the safety and lives of humans and animals are put at risk for the sake of depraved entertainment.” Various studies have shown a distinct relation between animal abuse and violence against humans.  Anyone who disrespects, harms and abuses an animal are much more likely to commit other violent crimes.

The purpose of this petition is to urge Mayor of Pamplona, Enrique Maya to ban all future events of bullfighting and the running of the bulls, protecting not only the animals but residents. Continuing these events is cruel and violent for the animals and any humans in the area.  You can help me with this endeavor by signing and sharing this petition, adding your own ideas and comments on events with bulls.

Mayor of Pamplona, Spain,  Enrique Maya – Events like bullfighting and running of the bulls are very popular events in Pamplona and throughout Spain but with those activities for human pleasure, yet there is so much violence and abuse associated with them.  I strongly urge you to ban all future events of bullfighting and the running of the bulls, protecting not only the animals but residents. Allegations have surfaced regarding numerous cases of sexual assault and rape against women and children.  In addition to the abuse against humans, there has been reports of torture and death of 54 bulls.  Continuing these events is cruel and violent for the animals and any humans in the area. It is a proven fact that anyone who disrespects, harms and abuses an animal are much more likely to commit other violent crimes. The recklessness and cruelty inherent in bullfighting and bull runs can encourage a dangerous and lawless atmosphere in which the safety and lives of humans and animals are put at risk for the sake of depraved entertainment. Ban these activities in an attempt to protect citizens, visitors and the animals that do not deserve such a cruel end.
