Leave them FREE!

Once upon a time, a Mustang's freedom was stolen from underneath his muzzle. Torn from his home, he watched his family ruthlessly become separated. Some perished when the helicopters chased them towards the holding pens. Others, bewildered and scared, lost their lives in the pens that separated them from their freedom. Those who lived lost everything.
Cattle outnumber Mustangs over 100:1, yet the Mustangs are blamed for the destruction of the rangelands. Does this make sense to you? Horses are more native to the grasslands then cattle. Though I want to be a rancher myself, I also cherish the freedom and spirit of the America's wild horses. They are a spirit that is not meant to be captured. They preserve the rangelands, for grass seeds are passed back onto the Earth's surface with their manure. Cattle take and do not return what they have consumed. I can understand the demands of the ranchers, who want more grass for their cattle; however is it fair to those who were present first?
Wild Horse Annie fought to save these sacred horses, and for them to still be losing their freedom is appalling. Recently, the 40 year anniversary of the "Wild Horse and Burro Act" came, which said that the Mustangs were meant to be free as are the wild burros. They are spirits of the west, a symbol of the old frontier, and should keep their freedom. We have to speak up for these horses, for the BLM is violating an act that is over 40 years old. And the west itself is not in horrible condition. The worst of its scars are from the olden days when mining was extremely common. But with overgrazing from cattle, it will become desert. Nevada was once a grassy prairie, but the overgrazing of cattle left it bare. Please, step up and save the Mustangs!
