Would you send your children to a camp that promised to deprive them of food, water, medical help, and prohibited them from communicating with their families? Of course you wouldn't!
And yet, that's the strategy of many so-called "conversion therapy" camps that promise parents they can "straighten out" gay, bisexual, and transgender teens. Such camps have historically practiced child abuse to achieve their dubious ends. Luckily, United States Representatives Adam Schiff, D-Burbank, and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla. have introduced legislation that prohibits programs that use conversion therapy on gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender young people. The Adam Schiff bill promises to put an end to at least one kind of child abuse. Please show your support by signing this petition and telling Congress that you support this bill and that it should be passed!
Dear United States House of Representatives:
We the undersigned ask that you pass the Adam Schiff bill. For far too long, parents have naively sent their children to camps and treatment centers that promise they can make gay or transgender children straight. No promise could be more of a lie. All these camps do is to abuse and bully children and teens into pretending to be something they are not, just to survive the camp experience. So, once again, we ask that you pass the Adam Schiff bill immediately.
