This is the final day the petition will be open. Thanks for contributing, everyone!
I decided to let the petition go on again until April 1st.
Today is the last day my petition will be open, so let's end it on a high note!
There is another petition for the same cause on change.org, but I don't want there to be too many people who signed this one to sign that one, unless you really want to.
Great news, everyone! Because of how much work was put into the petition, Producer Joe Hale is going to mail me some original story sketches!
The purpose of this petition is to request that Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment and Walt Disney Animation Studios release their long-dismissed animated film The Black Cauldron with its never-released footage on Blu-Ray. From what I understand, twelve minutes of completed animation and music were cut from the movie by Jeffrey Katzenberg soon before its premiere. The result left a big stain on the movie's overall plot structure and its character development. It also made the ending feel anti-climactic, and there are certain obvious jump cuts in Elmer Bernstein's music score that happen because of the edits. After a discussion with the movie's producer, Joe Hale, I have learned the full uncut master negative should exist somewhere in Disney's film vault or archives. We would like to thank Joe and his wife Beverly for showing their support to have the uncut movie released by signing the petition. Black Cauldron animators Steven Gordon and David Block, effects animator Scott Santaro, concept artist Mike Peraza, assistant director Mark Hester, Disney writer Brian Sibley, and even actors Grant Bardsley, Susan Sheridan and Phil Fondacaro have also been made aware of the petition and Facebook page.
