Young people are taught such a grave misconception in school’s about Wounded Knee and they should be taught the truth. To this day ,our state and federal history books still call Wounded Knee the last great battle between the U.S. Army and the Great Sioux Nation.
And the truth is ,it was the last grave VIOLENT MASSACRE perpetrated by the U.S. against the GREAT SIOUX NATION. Since our federal gov. won’t rescind the 20 medal of honors from the soldiers who helped commit this gross atrocity. Maybe we can force them to publicly aknowledge that it was a massacre by changing our Childrens history books in schools in this whole country. Together lets force them after roughly 125 years to set the records straight.

Why I am starting this petition. My wifes niece visited us the other day, she’s in middle school . We started talking about school and the subject turned to history. So I asked her if she learned about wounded knee. Her answer to me was, In history it says that it was a BIG battle between the brave troops of the 7th calvary and the Sioux Indians. 2014, almost 125 years have gone by and reapetedly through archives and witnesses testimonies, white men and Red what really happened that fateful day. And still our federal gov. will not acknoweledge that it was a MASSACRE. Pathetic isn’t it ʔ Why does our Gov. still treat Native Americans this way ,by insulting them STILL with lies and deceptions.

Update #19 years ago
Last week, my wife and I had my wife's niece spend the night. I was talking to our niece ,asked her how her grades were, she's in Eight grade. She told me that her grades were good and she got an A in history. I asked her if she learned about Wounded Knee, and then I heard her say something very sad. She said that she learned about how it was such a great battle and how they gave medals of honor to troops of the 7th Calvary for valor. I told her what really happened that day.
