Let the People Be Heard on the PennEast Pipeline!

The League of Women Voters of New Jersey, as a good government organization invested in citizen participation asks that the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) ensure citizen participation and promote a fair, transparent, and robust public process. We request seven independent and separate DRBC and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) hearings on the PennEast Pipeline along the proposed PennEast pipeline route.

Limited and joint FERC/DRBC hearings do not offer enough opportunity for citizen participation. The residents along the pipeline route have a right to a reasonable amount of time to have their voices heard. To ensure adequate debate and participation, the DRBC must travel to impacted communities and hold separate meetings.

Citizens in impacted areas are eager for their full and fair opportunity to comment. These communities are calling out for action and having a few members of the DRBC travel, as opposed to thousands of citizens, is the best way for the most people to be heard.
