Keep Council Jobs in Inverurie

Aberdeenshire's councillors have scrapped plans to move the council's HQ to Inverurie. Instead, they plan to keep the council HQ in Aberdeen, in a building that's far too big and costs taxpayers far too much.

It's bad news for Aberdeenshire as a whole, but it's a hammer blow for Inverurie, which instead of getting 300 new council jobs will now lose 150 jobs. Instead, there will now be some new, smaller offices built at the back of Inverurie Town Hall to replace Gordon House.

Three out of Inverurie's four councillors voted for this. They also voted against the option of having the same town hall redevelopment alongside a smaller Inverurie Council HQ – a move which would still have brought hundreds of jobs to the town instead of losing them.

Inverurie doesn't need to lose 150 jobs to get the town hall refurbished, but that's the decision that's been made for you by Cllr Berry, Cllr Ewenson and Cllr Whyte. If you think they made the wrong choice, then let them know by signing this petition.
