Petition To Stop BLM Roundups Of Wild Horses

Petition to Don Glenn of the BLM's Wild Horse and Burro Program to stop the abuse and mismanagement of America's Wild Horses.
Petition to Don Glenn of the BLM's Wild Horse and Burro Program to stop the abuse and mismanagement of America's Wild Horses.
We the undersigned demand that the Bureau of Land Management stop ignoring the American people in their desire to keep the American mustang wild and free. The Free Roaming Wild Horse and Burro Act of 1971 requires the protection of our wild equines in the areas where they existed in 1971. Since then, 20 million acres have been stolen from the horses. There are 100 head of cattle grazing OUR PUBLIC LANDS for every one wild equid. The BLM acts in accordance with the cattlemen's wishes, removing horses from their rightful home to allow for more government subsidized grazing. Cattle from these contracts supply a mere three percent of American beef. DNA studies over the past several years have shown that the modern horse evolved here in North America. He is a NATIVE SPECIES and belongs in our ecosystem. Renowned Wildlife Biologists such as Mr. Craig Downer have advised that the wild horse be left alone, except in extreme cases of lack of forage. Almost all the horses captured are in good shape and have had adequate feed. The BLM continues to spread "starving mustang" propaganda in order to continue reducing herds. Any herd area must have at least 150 animals to maintain genetic integrity. The BLM purposely reduces herds to non-genetically viable numbers, thereby ensuring their eventual demise due to inbreeding. Despite having 30,000 mustangs and burros already imprisoned in holding facilities, the BLM plans to remove another 12,000 horses and burros in the next year. This is a national disgrace and we want it to end.

The arrogance of people who are involved in the destruction of animal life as well as Earth's resources is overwhelming these days. Humans encroach upon animals' habitat then we destroy them because they are in the way? While doing this we are ultimately destroying ourselves. How dare you.

So many people care about the abuse and mismanagement of our wild horses, when will someone in our government do something about the BLM who is responsible for the cruel roundups and slaughter of these horses.

It is crazy to capture and break the spirit of a wild animal, who do no harm to humans and who lived on the land before we did! Most of the animals you capture live in the mountains where people cant even get to by foot. Let them be and enjoy life and natural selection will keep their number under control. Quit being control freaks BLM.

I wish I could do more than sign petitions, but a little help is better than none at all. Saving wild mustangs is a big priority to me! I hope to see more and more people become involved and realize how important it is to save them, how much they enrich our land and reconnect us with life. They deserve their freedom and right to live in a healthy environment!

I care about our American heritage not only as a Native American but also as a person who loves and respects all life. I was born an animal lover and horses have always had a special place in my heart. They always will!

This was the wild horse's land long before it was ours! The BLM contradicts itself by rounding up these wild animals, hurting or killing them in the process and then allowing ranchers to put their private livestock on this land. This is just morally wrong and highly unethical. These horses are a priceless part of our country!

Until the program has better oversight and stops all forms of abuse, we must put a moratorium on this!

This is much too precious a resource and symbol of our past
