Salt Lake City: Divest From Coal Energy!

Trump signed an executive order today, March 28, effectively asking the EPA to rewrite the Clean Power Plan. The Clean Power Plan was a major accomplishment of the Obama administration and was moving our country away from "dirty" energy like coal and towards "clean" energy like wind and solar.

But now, all of that is under threat, thanks to Trump. He tried to spin this as "I'll bring back coal mining jobs". When in reality, all this will do is lessen existing environmental protections and keep us from investing in training workers in renewable energy source procurement.

Utah is one of the states that gets most of its energy from "dirty" coal energy. Since we can't rely on the current federal government to protect our environment, we must call on local
government to do so. So we are asking that Salt Lake City divests financially from the many coal plants in Utah. Please sign this petition to join us!

Most Utahns get their energy from Rocky Mountain Energy. We need to get SLC to force RME to follow the guidance of the Obama Clean Power plan and transition to clean fuels and alternative energy.
