Petition to Change Library Hours to Facilitate Working Students at Norwalk Community Collegge

WE THE UNDERSIGNED WOULD LIKE TO BRING YOUR ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWING PROBLEM, WITH RECOMMENDATION(S):
According to the responses on a survey that we took in a class of 22 students, all of us are working students. 75% of us work full time and 25% work part-time. I do believe that you might agree with me, that we also work on different schedules. Based on the same surveys I mentioned earlier, 80% of us would like Weekend Library hours to be extended. Opponents to my plan might say the staff will be working longer hours and some of them are students themselves. Actually they would not be. Have you heard of staggering schedule or flexi-time? They have already been using it. Not everyone comes in/or leaves at the same time. It just needs to be adjusted, a little. After interviewing the Reference and Instruction Librarian at the college, it was confirmed that the library hours 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and closed on Sunday. Many of my co-workers take Saturday classes. What a relief it would be if the library was open before the classes, so they could have access to it. An hour later, or earlier in the week would be an asset. I am not saying every day. This would have defeated the purpose of lobbying for working student as students are among the library staffing.
