A huge live dolphin show is being created for the first time in Pakistan. A 4,000-seat arena has been proposed as dolphins are scheduled to be exploited from October 1, 2012.
Cetacean rights have been discussed and argued in courts of law and history has shown that enslaving cetaceans is NOT benefitial to the creatures.
Why then, would a LIVE DOLPHIN SHOW be considered a 'forward step' for Pakistan?
Surely the Pakistan government and those targeted in this petition have researched more than just the monetory bottom line!
The true bottom line for any dolphin captured or purchased for exhibition is misery!
Most people who are involved with animal and habitat preservation, whether formally or casually, are aware of the obscene number of dolphins that live short and miserable lives, dying unnaturally while in captivity.
All too many dolphins have been recorded to seemingly choose to take one last breath, swim beneath the surface, and not come back up... they choose to die rather than live in a swimming pool!
With all whaling nations, the bycatch casualties, the drive fishing, the deliberate and calculated harm done to small cetaceans; not to mention various oil company DISASTERS, there are also hotels KNOWN for dolphin deaths, marine sanctuaries at risk, increasing DEAD ZONES, and marine aquariums with horrendous reputations - all over the world.
What more must they put up with?
Corporations, whether large or small, and greedy individuals will choose to profit now and give little care to the consequences of their actions.
These corporations and individuals don't usually bother unless there is a demand.
Every single person helps to create that demand the moment they buy a ticket to view a dolphin show, the second they choose to say nothing, and during the blink of the eye, when they decide that it doesn't matter.
Commander Karachi Rear Admiral Ghazafar Hussain, this is NOT the best way to offer your people "joy and fun," as you have suggested!
Mustafa Kamal (CEO, TBI), this is not a "new form of entertainment" and surely there are better ways to provide diversity from routine life in Pakistan.

Dear Pakistan Government, Navy, Talent Broker International, Utrish Dolphinarium Inc. and Pakistani citizens,
You are scheduled to begin exhibiting dolphins in October of this year to the detriment of creatures in the guise of offering "joy and fun" to your citizens.
Surely there are better ways to lighten the mood in Pakistan that don't involve the further exploitation of these creatures.
Those who join by signing this petition wish to request that you reconsider your decision to exhibit and exploit dolphins.
Please remember how precious these creatures are: your Indus River Dolphin is at serious risk and you have been applauded by many nations and wildlife organisations for your conservation efforts, yet you choose to create a dolphin exhibition!
Do you see the hypocrisy in this?
The Yangtse River dolphin is exctinct! The New Zealand Maui Dolphin is nearly gone (55 assumed to remain).
Dolphins already suffer with thanks to the many whaling nations, the bycatch casualties, the drive fishing, the deliberate and calculated harm done to small cetaceans; not to mention various oil company disasters, there are also hotels known for dolphin deaths, marine sanctuaries at risk, increasing DEAD ZONES, and marine aquariums with horrendous reputations - all over the world.
Keep up the great work. Look what you've accomplished!
