We need to persuade the Common Conservators that the children of our local community would substantially benefit from a play area on Wimbledon Common. There is no dedicated area for children anywhere in the 1,100 acres of space that spans the Common. Unlike Richmond Park or indeed most other London parks and commons, there is no safe area that children can play in that has adequate equipment they are able to swing, slide and climb on. Young children face the risks of being harassed by excitable dogs, being run over by speeding cyclists, being stung by overgrown nettles or even tripping up on broken branches.
