We request a change in the exam timetable for PSY2202 and PSY2301 students

Please help make a difference in raising awareness of the issue we face this upcoming exam period for Semester 1, 2015. The demand on us as students has the potential to be adjusted and we need you to be a part of that change.

Are you enrolled in and preparing to take part in the examinations for units PSY2202 (Research Methods in Psychology 2) and PSY2301 (Learning and Motivation)? If so, you may or may not be aware of the exam timetable (available from SIMO) and the future potential challenge that awaits.

Please sign this petition to raise awareness for the School of Psychology and Social Sciences regarding the timetable. Being the same department for each subject, they have arranged for our exams to be on the same day for each of the units aforementioned.

So, why is it important to make a change?
These examinations have a heavy weighting on our final grade as students. Particularly as psychology students who are heavily encouraged to work towards our Honours and Masters, we need to maintain a high grade average to be considered.

For students with difficulties in memorisation and/or who have their anxieties raging during the examination period, this strain will be most prominent. For other students, this excessive strain will diminish the potential to demonstrate their knowledge and skills, lowering their average grades despite their actual knowledge and skills.

The examination timetable must be altered to make amends to our future, and potential future opportunities in education. Whether you're working towards Honours and/or Masters or not, we need appropriate opportunities during the examination period to demonstrate our knowledge and skills, and having each exam on the same day will hinder such an opportunity.
