LEVI'S CUTS WORKERS HOURS BECAUSE OF HEALTHY SAN FRANCISCO PROGRAM

In response to being required to pay into "Healthy San Francisco"*, the Levi's corporation has drastically cut all retail workers' hours and gotten rid of all full time employees. They also are instituting a highly stressful, variable and unpredictable work schedule system which would make it almost impossible for someone to have another job or go to school.

This is not ok. People need both health care and and the ability to make a living wage. If Levi's is doing this, other corporations are as well, or will be; thereby furthering in creating a two class society composed of financially omnipotent ruling elite and their wage slaves.

Sign the petition or send them the letter below or call Levi's to let them know this is not ok. People need more hours to work or if they are part time, their schedule needs to be set so they can get another job to support themselves or go to school for another career.

*(Healthy San Francisco is a program designed to make health care services available and affordable to uninsured San Francisco residents. It is operated by the San Francisco Department of Public Health (DPH).

Dear Levi's Service Representative, It has recently come to my attention through a reliable source that one, or all of your stores, in SF have made drastic cuts to the hours of all your workers in a negatively compensatory response to having to pay into the Healthy San Francisco program.

Though I have always liked your brand as the stylish, well made, and classic American clothing line that it is, I cannot, in good faith, continue to purchase your brand any longer since you are contributing to the impoverishment of those who work in your stores.

How can you have a good public image if you do things like this? I will be posting this information on facebook and also will attempt to get it posted onto Care2Causes, so it can be distributed at a much larger level.

I thought Levi's stood for America and the American way. Impoverishing your workers and lowering their hours and forcing a non set schedule (unpredictable constantly changing variable hours) is not the American way.

As well, as making profit, and providing a great, durable, and long lasting product, an exemplary corporation must also keep in mind social justice and act with concern for the welfare of its employees if it is to hold its head high in the marketplace and be embraced by consumers. Thank you for your time in reading this.

Sincerely,
