Demand Ireland 100% Renewable by 2020

People should sign this petition as it directly affects all of Ireland's people, our children, our elderly.
Electricity/Gas/Fuel bills are sky rocketing in Ireland & @ the rate its going, our little country will need to be self sufficient/sustainable if Oil levels keep plummeting.
As it stands, we live on a finite planet, with finite [limited]resources. Our energy needs are not going anywhere & we as a society need our government
to be looking to the future to make sure our energy needs can be met. Investing in renewable clean energy is the way forward.
We want to use these methods to produce our own clean energy so that we are less dependent on imported, expensive, and polluting fossil fuels.
Signing this petition will bring more light to this subject.

Germany are already becoming world leaders in this field and Ireland need to address these concerns too.

Our government has set out in its strategy for renewable energy 2012 - 2020 as follows:
Under Directive 2009/28/EC, we are legally obliged to ensure that by 2020, at least 16% of all energy consumed in the state is from renewable sources[this is just not enough in my eyes, too little], with a sub-target of 10% in the transport sector. We must ensure that between now and 2020, there is a steady, progressive and measurable increase in the amount of renewable energy consumed in the electricity, heat and transport sectors, commensurate with the achievement of the national target.

Some information on Scotland's routemap:
The Routemap for Renewable Energy in Scotland 2011 is an update and extension to the Scottish Renewables Action Plan 2009. This updated and expanded Routemap reflects the challenge of Scotland's new target to meet an equivalent of 100% demand for electricity from renewable energy by 2020, as well as a target of 11% renewable heat.

The target of @ least 16% of all energy consumed in the state by 2020 should be from renewable sources is just not enough in my eyes, too little too late. We need to be more demanding so our children don't face a crisis thats just waiting to happen, please sign and share the petition.

We need to be more demanding so our children don't face an energy crisis that's just waiting to happen, please sign and share the petition.
