Since legalizing marijuana, Colorado has experienced numerous benefits that could help our entire nation. In just two years Colorado has seen:
- significant decreases in violent crime; including decreases in burglary, homicide and sexual assault.
- decreases in marijuana related arrests; where cultivation, possession, and distribution charges have decreased over 80%.
- significant increases in revenue; the revenue from the legalization of marijuana is distributed to important services such as education and behavior health. Colorado is expected to bring in about 125 million dollars in taxes for 2015 from the legalization of marijuana.
The legalization of marijuana provides solutions to the United States most difficult challenges; overcrowded prisons, crime rates, and the nation’s overall financial situation.
It is ridiculous that with all of these benefits, we are still criminalizing a medicine.
It is time for marijuana to be legal nationwide.
