Petition to ban passengers travelling from and through Ebola infected countries into Canada.

Banning all passengers from and through current Ebola stricken countries will help to delay and possibly prevent its transmission to Canada and the World.

The Ebola virus has reached epidemic proportions in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and it is spreading. Canada should ban all passengers travelling from and through current Ebola stricken countries. Just as someone with the Ebola virus is quarantined, so too, these countries need to be quarantined in order to contain its spread as much as possible and prevent a pandemic. Banning passengers is not the complete solution, but will certainly help control its transmission.

Does this mean these countries are being abandoned? Not if the World joins forces and sends vaccines, drugs, medical staff and financial aid to fight this plague. By helping West Africa, the world is also helping itself.

Current measures of asking passengers to honestly answer a questionnaire and temperature readings at airports have proven to be ineffective and has now resulted in the Ebola virus transmission to the United States whereby 2 medical staff now have the Ebola disease.

Dr. Tom Frieden, Director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control stated quite convincingly that the US would competently manage any Ebola issues. Apparently it was OK that US citizens would get infected with Ebola. The man from Liberia has died from Ebola even though he received treatment in the United State. The US was not ready for the virus and Dr. Tom Frieden should be fired.

It is my opinion that the reason for not banning passengers from these countries is the same reason why Mr. Duncan was dismissed from the Dallas Hospital even though staff where told he was from Liberia and exhibiting signs of infection..... It's all about the "MONEY". Mr. Duncan did not have health insurance and was therefore sent home to avoid further costs to the hospital. (Heck, American citizens with health insurance are even turned away if they don't have the right type of coverage.) Flights are not being banned because the airlines would lose money.

How many Canadians need to be infected with Ebola before the government will initiate a pre-emptive strike against its transmission?

Prime Minister Harper, Ministry of Health Canada; please ban all passengers travelling from and through current Ebola stricken countries and provide any assistance necessary to help quell this plague in West Africa.
