Be More Diligent & Ban Use of Dogs for Experiments at Wayne University

Using animals in school studies continues to occur in various areas of the country and can be very disturbing to know this is still a reality in the education of students.  Such is the case at Wayne University in Detroit, Michigan where they allegedly still use dogs in their study programs.

https://secure2.convio.net/pcrm/site/Advocacy?cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=874 describes the issues on how this University continues to put dogs through painful experiments, cutting them open for multiple surgeries, stressing them out on treadmills to elevate their hearts for possible failures and then killing the animals when no longer needed for research.  The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is working diligently to stop these types of experiments using these precious pets and stop the cruelty and abuse.

Our efforts in this petition is to encourage the President of Wayne State to ban these types of experiments permanently and save the dogs. We want to support the PCRM and let our voices be heard.  You can help in our goals by signing and sharing this petition as you also ensure experiments on dogs are banned as part of research and experiments in a school curriculum.

President of Wayne State University, Dr. M. Roy Wilson – We strongly urge that you use your expertise and influence to ban the use of dogs at the Wayne State University in painful experiments as part of the school curriculum.  Such research has been conducted on dogs for more than 20 years without real benefits to human-relevant research dealing with heart ailments and stress.  Other methods of study without use of animals have been found to provide treatment and prevention options.  Please ensure that dogs are no longer used in experiments and research at the University.
