Our Position: We strongly oppose the rezoning of the 80 acres off jackson Rd from R-1 to R-5. R-5 will permit eight homes per acre housing density. We oppose this for many reasons including flooding, safety of existing and new residence, protection of property values and the impact this would have on our rural community.

A group of investors known as the "Kentucky Boys" have asked the city of Creola to rezone about 80 acres off Jackson Rd. Most know this area as the "Dirt Pit". It is currently zoned R-1 which is consistent with land use in the neighborhood. They are requesting it be rezoned to R-5 which is the highest building density permitted under a very recently passed ordnance.
R-5 zoning will permit eight homes per acre. They propose in a drawing to allow 390 homes on the 80 acres but once rezoned and sold to a developer there is nothing preventing MANY more homes from being built as long as they abide the R-5 zone regulations.
We do not oppose development but feel it should be more controlled and in keeping with the surrounding properties.
To make this work in addition to your participation we need you to share this petition with at lease two neighbors and encourage them to do the same.
