I cannot even imagine hurting any animals much less my own beloved pets!! This woman in Sarasota County, Florida was getting evicted for personal reasons from her residence. Shelley Bezanson could not remain in her place because of the dog and instead of finding another home for it, she took matters into her own hands in a cruel manner.

Ms. Bezanson killed her 7-year-old dog by strangulation and was planning to bury it when authorities were alerted about the incident and cruel intentions. Further information released states that the woman wanted her veterinarian to euthanize it but they refused because the animal was healthy and young. Instead, they tried to encourage her to return it to a Human Society where they could rehome the animal but she refused.

Ms. Bezanson was selfish in the fact that she did not want anyone else to care for the dog, despite the fact that she could not provide it a home herself. A necropsy revealed that Diamond suffered a prolonged, painful and cruel death.  The woman is being held on a $25,000 bond. Sarasota, Florida Judicial System – Ms. Bezanson is clearly guilty of animal abuse and cruelty by killing her own young, healthy dog just because she could no longer provide a home for it. Instead of attempting to find a new, good home for the animal, she strangled it, causing a prolonged, painful and cruel death. She should be punished to the full extent of the law, a maximum sentence, for intentional harm to her own pet. Ensure that she is held accountable with the strictest punishment to make her pay for the pain her “pet” endured.
