Australian Prime Minister, and Environmental Minister must Protect Whales

Target:
Australian Government
Whale Call, an Australian based NGO, whale conservation and research organization, in its bid to have a halt placed against the illegal and inhumane slaughter of threatened and endangered species of whales, including 50 endangered humpbacks, an act which is under international condemnation, puts it to the Australian Prime Minister, and the Federal Minister for the Environment, what their intentions are to saving these whales, and to make a pledge, to protect them in their feeding grounds in Australian Territorial waters, which the Japanese Government's 'JARPA 2 whale research program' plans to slaughter over 1,000 whales this year.

Not only is this an illegal and inhumane act, but you cannot eat whale, or even dolphin meat for that matter. It is very poisonous, being highly toxic with methylmercury, PCB's, cadmium, and dioxins, and is unsafe for human consumption, especially pregnant women and young school children who are being fed whale, and dolphin meat, in Japan's school canteens. Also their pets health is at risk. Dog biscuits are made from whale meat and cat food from dolphin meat. The dangerous health problems caused from eating whale, or dolphin meat, is called Minamata Disease, and goes straight to the fetus of a pregnant women upon consuming whale meat. Another very good reason for Japan, and other whaling nations, to put a halt to their whaling programs.

Whale Call would appreciate your caring participation in signing this very important petiton so it can be presented to the Australian Government.

Warning; the accompanying film is very graphic and children should ask their parents to supervise any viewing.

*** If signing doesn't work please change your zip/postcode to 00000 thankyou

We the undersigned would appreciate it if you were to please put a halt to the Japanese whalers from entering Australian Territorial waters in the Southern Ocean and mass slaughtering our whales. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.

I believe that pouchers should STOP killing whales. It is also horrible to sometimes eat the meat. Whales are dangerously endangered.

I hope by signing this potition, whales won't be endangered any more and that whales will be able to swim wild in the ocean, WITHOUT pouchers.

We must stop this appalling exploitation of whales in international waters. The Japanese use of the "scientific research" cover for the commercial operation is unacceptable. Please use your influence to stop this action.

That people will start to see that whaling is wrong and that its not nice!

Whales are amazingly magnificent creatures, a once-in-a-life-time experience of what is REALLY out there in the world. A bit like Hayley's Comet. If we manage to realise in time we can save this majestic creature as well as saving other UNDISCOVERED creatures.

The Goverment should take action, contact, make more petitions, make very strict laws against Whaling. Not just: "You can't whale, i'll let you off," the moment they see someone whaling they MUST stop them whether the person 'sweet-talks' them or not.

Whales & dolphins are intelligent animals. Scients have found that dolphins have their own language and that each individual has a name. Whales also talk to each other and show the same love & care for their offspring that humans do. In fact, these are gentle giants and do not deserve the distress caused by slaughter. The meat is not safe to eat do to the human habit of poisoning the oceans and the Japanese consumers have voted with their feet and do not buy it. Research cannot be carried out on dead animals so there is no reason or excuse to inhumanely slaughter these animals.

I would like to see all governments prohibiting whaling in their sovereign territory and calling for all whaling countries to stop. I would also like to see more research done on whales & dolphins to understand them better.

It's important to me because killing is plain inhumane. They way they do it is just cruel! They are such beautiful creatures and deserve to live just like the humans do!

I would like to see some sense knocked into them and whaling stopped. They need education on this matter to see that they can't just continue to satisfy their rituals and such.

THis issue is important to me because whaling is an absolutely disgusing, unnecessary disgrace and i wonder if the people on the whaling ships have souls. HOw do they live with themselves?

I would like to see whaling banned everywhere across the globe. Japan should recieve a huge fine for illegally whaling for many years on the grounds of "scientific rresearch".

Whales and dolphins have the God given right to live and contribute to the ecology of the planet just like you and me.

Please help to stop this senseless killing by putting pressure on the Japanese government.
