Once again, we need your emails to Ohio 's House and Senate to show support for the dogs living in these inhumane conditions. (Substitute House Bill #223 & Senate Bill #173). There are new members of leadership in the House and Senate and the bill has also been assigned to a new committee. We are starting somewhat fresh and want those new members to know that Ohio Citizens care about the humane care of dogs in high volume breeding facilities known as puppy mills.
As you may know, Ohio ranks 2nd in the entire country for numbers of puppy mills. An undercover investigator, who has been to puppy mills throughout the United States , has called Ohio puppy mills the worst for humane conditions. Even though Missouri has many more puppy mills, our dogs are allowed to be kept in poorly maintained kennels without regard to appropriateness to size or cleanliness.
It is up to each of us to help the dogs, who are in tiny, filthy cages at this very moment. Don't let them suffer through another winter. Thank you for taking the time to have our collective voices heard.

Our family adopted a dog from a pet store 5 years ago. It breaks my heart to think that my dog was merely dollar bills to a puppy mill. It's time to stop treating these animals as though they are livestock. These animals are our companions and deserve to be welcomed into the world by responsible breeders who wish to improve upon the respective breed. I have seen the poor animals bred in a puppy mill and the conditions are horrible! They are confined in very small wire cages sometimes stacked 4 and 5 deep. They are fed and watered the very minimum, and have no socialization. These breeders are at the very least irresponsible and at the other end they border on sadistic.

I just learned about this yesterday on the Oprah show. Needles to say my boys and I were in tears. This must be stopped. Please do not turn your back on these poor defenseless creatures. The puppy mill owners don't care about man's best friend. They only want to make financial gain. Too many pet store consumers pay good money for puppies that are poorly bred(brother's bred to sisters) and unhealthy. These puppies often sit in their urine and feces for 8 weeks (if they live that long). The poor bitches and studs that stay usually live their entire lives in misery. We need to stop unfeeling greedy people from operating these torture chambers and create better more sanitary and humane conditions for MANS BEST FRIEND! Offering low or no cost spaying and neutering and more inspections from our inadequate health department personnel would also help. Not only will alot of dog be saved, but so will a lot of money in local governments that dump thousands into city shelters. Less dogs produced in mills = less dogs in society that will adventually end up in the system = more people that may consider a shelter dog if there are no mill dogs... the connections are endless in why this makes sense!!!!!
