We are asking that you sign this petition because Facebook is blocking people that are posting animals in need of help as spam, when we are simply posting within our circle of people trying to help rescue, transport, foster or adopt animals.

OUR LETTER TO FACEBOOK:

We are appealing to you to reconsider the Facebook blocking procedures and to look at what they are doing to animals being networked to be saved. Networking is not only time sensitive, but lack of networking can and will, in the end, cost them their lives.  We are asking that you read this carefully, and try to look at the situation from our side, or should I say their side of the fence(or cage as it were).

We want to commend Facebook on presenting us with a tool that has allowed us to save many animal lives, in the quickest way possible.

We'd like to take a minute to explain how we network for lives.  We network animals in abusive situations, animals needing medical help and animals in kill shelters, to get them to safe places.  We have the following types of rescue people in place internationally to do this job:  those that network to get the animals needing rescue, those that care for animals until such time as they are ready for a forever home, the transport people that drive them to a safe place, the vets that give medical care for a lower cost to rescues, the activists that make sure that the issues are heard and work toward solutions to keep the wheels of rescue going, and the animal lovers willing to donate funds to help these animals with what they may need and somehow, always find space for one more in their lives.

If you look at this system as a whole, we ask you to consider two things:

    •  It is huge, and it takes a lot of networking to connect one part with the other  parts of the system.

    •  As Facebook is now a Public Trading Company, and thereby partially owned by the Public, consider how many of the attached signatures are potential Stockholders and Advertising Businesses.

We are not here to do any harm to Facebook, we are simply appealing to you to stop the harm that these blocking procedures are doing to these animals.  At this time, we are not here battling because we are being blocked, but for the animals voices and lives. We are here to be the Voice for the Voiceless and keep Facebook blocking procedures from potentially harming these animals, however unintentional it may be.

Please realize that by blocking the posting of these animals, it is slowing the process and is causing us to have to find constant loopholes simply to post these living beings URGENTLY NEEDING RESCUE! These animals cannot simply walk out the door if they’d like, and the fact that they even exist inside of the cages, the holes, on the end of chains or worse yet needing help in abusive situations would become almost unknown if the wheels continue to be slowed to what will eventually be a grinding halt.  Facebook can stop this.

I ask you this, if someone that you love dearly, were in a situation that could cost them there life, coupled with the fact that their was a stopwatch counting down to the time of their death, wouldn't you want to have the quickest and best route available to you to save them, and how frustrated and angry would you be, if they were lost due to lack of medical attention or another circumstance, strictly due to the system being slowed and time running out.

Many of the shelters are what we will call, less than desirable places, in many if animals are not sick going in, they will be coming out. Animals that are sick are often kept in the back, away from public view with no chance for adoption.  In kill shelters, the time limit can be almost no time at all, in some cases it can be as soon as the same day an owner turns in or 3 to 7 days after a stray hold has lifted that an animal can be euthanized or put to sleep. Many shelters still utilize gassing or heart sticking, which are both incredibly painful deaths.

These are the things that we are asking you to consider, in your conscience, in your heart and in your mind.  This is a simple fix for you. You've already made  filters for games, and for other things that some of us don't wish to see, there has to be a way to filter our posts versus spam blocking them. By taking the time to do this, and from a PR perspective, you could make Facebook the hero of the day, instead of unwittingly, and in all probability without even knowing it, play the villain.

Please consider the signatures that you receive here, not just as the animal rescue people asking for your help, but multiply that and consider the animals that are requesting your help as well.

Thank you for taking the time to read what we have to say, and we believe that you will do the right thing, and help us help the animals!

Signed,

the animals in need of help, and the people that rescue them
