Demand to put and end to sending people to jail for harm done to a person in self defense.

The issue is that there are prisoners spending years of their lives for homicides and other assaults when it was an act of self defense. Why should anyone get locked up and taken from their families for protecting themselves. My fiance and his brother recently got life sentences for murdering the person that tried to kill his brother and left him for dead and broke his home on his chest so he couldn't be resuscitated. He spent weeks in the hospital and the police didn't try to do anything about it and the person was still out in the world and was still out to kill my fiance s brother. And the prosecutor scared them into taking a 30 year plea because they feared being locked up for life without parole. I believe this is completely unfair especially when we have every right to protect ourselves. It seems this only happens in the lower class neighborhood s and people . They need to release any prisoners doing time for self defense.
